Off Campus Study Opportunities
Learning far beyond the classroom
Though NA requires that each Upper School student participate in one Immersion Experience, we encourage students to take every opportunity to broaden and deepen their off-campus learning, wherever that may lead them.
Approved Semester Programs
Unlike many other private schools, Newark Academy actively encourages students to consider semester-long travel and study programs with some of the world’s most highly-respected organizations including:

The Alzar School
This program emphasizes outdoor and wilderness education in the beautiful setting of Cascade, Idaho. It also includes a 5-week trip to Chile for immersive experiences in language and service.

Maine Coast Semester
On the coast of Maine, you will help run a farm and learn about the beautiful and delicate balance of maritime life.

High Mountain Institute
Your home base: 10,000 feet above sea level in the Colorado Rockies. Travel on three major excursions throughout the West, making the outdoors your classroom.

The Island School
Spend a term scuba diving, conducting aquaculture research, exploring Bahamian art and culture, and investigating celestial navigation.

SEGL
At the School for Ethics and Global Leadership, live on Capitol Hill and meet top presidential and congressional advisors, tackle political case studies and study foreign policy-making. NA was the first school authorized to participate in this program.

School Year Abroad
Choose your destination for an incredible full-year educational experience overseas. In recent years, NA students have spent a school year in China, France, Spain and Italy.

Malone Schools Online Network (MSON)
Thanks to a long-standing partnership with the Malone Family Foundation and its consortium of private schools, selected NA students take advantage of academically challenging courses beyond those offered on our campus. Outstanding independent school teachers lead the seminar style classes in real time with students from across the United States. MSON is powered by the latest video conferencing technology from the Stanford University Online High School platform. NA students interested in taking advantage of our school’s partnership with MSON should speak to their advisor or to Upper School Teacher Dr. Richard DiBianca.
