Newark Scholars Program

Since its founding in 1774, Newark Academy has provided students from many different neighborhoods and communities a welcoming atmosphere to gather, to grow, to learn. For most of our history, students from the City of Newark filled the halls of the Academy’s three campuses in Newark. When Newark Academy’s Board of Trustees made the decision to relocate the Academy to Livingston in 1964, there remained a shared sense of commitment to the City of Newark that went well beyond the name of the school.

Today, NA remains proud of its heritage and seeks to provide top students from our namesake city with the very best independent school education. Assisted by the generosity of a loyal alumnus, NA proudly established the Newark Scholars Program to provide full scholarships to students from Newark. In the fall of 2012, Newark Academy welcomed the program's first six Newark Scholars.

Designated Scholarships

Newark Academy offers a number of Designated Scholarships funded by foundations, corporations and individual donations. Designated Scholarships extend the reach of the Academy’s own financial aid budget, enabling the Academy to attract economically disadvantaged young people who have outstanding academic and leadership potential and significant need for financial assistance. Scholarship recipients are selected jointly by the admission and financial aid committees. Recipients must demonstrate financial need by completing the financial aid process.
