Petruziello Comes To McGraw Gallery

Works by artist Sarah Petruziello will be on display in the McGraw Gallery from September 3-28.
Works by artist Sarah Petruziello will be on display in the McGraw Gallery from September 3-28. An opening reception will be held in the gallery on Thursday, September 12 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

The exhibit, entitled, “Lead and Leaf” is a collection of drawings produced primarily in graphite. Some of the drawings are embellished in gold leaf around the edges as a means of transcending the simply illustrative nature of the works with a tangible, touchable surface.

Petruziello now lives in South Orange but grew up in Athens, Georgia. Some of her pieces have an intentionally mystical quality and harken back to her childhood in the South and her love of Southern Gothic narrative.

Petruziello has earned numerous grants and fellowships. She was featured in the 2013 South Orange Maplewood Artists Studio Tour and teaches as an adjunct art professor at Seton Hall University. To view Sarah Petruziello’s work, visit www.sarahpetruziello.com.

The McGraw Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Saturdays by appointment only.
