A longstanding tradition at Newark Academy, Convocation celebrated NA students, faculty and alumni.
A longstanding tradition at Newark Academy, Convocation is the formal opening ceremony of the school year. Convocation 2014 celebrated NA students, faculty and guest alumni.
Head of School Don Austin opened the event. During his remarks he reminded the community that this year marks NA’s 50th anniversary on the Livingston campus. He asserted that those who originally suggested moving from Newark Academy’s home city, and shifting from an urban to a suburban environment were certainly “out-of-the-box” thinkers, a quality to be cultivated in today’s NA community as well.
NA alumna Lauren Hedvat ’01 addressed the community as our guest speaker. She recounted her experiences as an NA student and her journey to her current roles as Newark Academy Trustee and chair of the Annual Fund committee.
Several faculty members were recognized for their longstanding commitment and dedication to Newark Academy. Those honored for their longevity included:
55 Years Blackie Parlin
30 Years Dan Erlandson Von Rollenhagen
25 Years Amy Emilianoff
15 Years Tom Ashburn William Blomn Pat Neary, RN Amy Schottland
