A Team of Two

Idnani brothers represent Newark Academy at chess nationals.
Taran and Roshan Idnani, both in the sixth grade at Newark Academy, took their chess acumen to the national level at the three-day 2014 National K-12 Championship in Florida. The event attracted more than 1,500 elementary and secondary school chess players.

The brothers WERE the Newark Academy team at the tournament. They were the sole representatives of the NA team, competing against approximately 155 other players in the sixth grade section.

At the end of the tournament’s seven rounds, Roshan emerged tied for 2nd place. Taran earned 5th place and the brothers brought home a 5th place team prize for NA – quite a feat for a two-man team!

Congratulations to both Taran and Roshan for representing NA chess and for their amazing performance at nationals!
