Twenty-four Members of the Senior Class Received National Merit Recognition!

Twenty students received Commended Student recognition and four students -- Courtney Cooperman, Mark Dempsey, Jacob Furst, and Mauranda Men -- are National Merit Semifinalists and are among the 16,000 Semifinalists from a national application pool of 1.5 million students.
The Semifinalists have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,400 National Merit® Scholarships worth approximately $32 million that will be offered next spring.

Students enter the National Merit® Scholarship Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit® Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) during their junior year, the initial screen of program entrants.

The nationwide pool of 2016 semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state. National Merit Scholarship Corporation will begin announcing the 2016 winners in April.
