MS students show their globe-spanning knowledge at National Geographic Bee.
Middle School students answered geography questions with pinpoint accuracy during Newark Academy's annual geography competition, the National Geographic Bee.

Spencer Glassman ’19 won the NA competition for the second year running. The school-level event, at which students answer oral questions on geography, was the first round in the 27th annual National Geographic Bee.

Spencer earned a medal as the Newark Academy champ and moves on to take the written qualifying test for the New Jersey State Bee. The winner of the state bee advances to the national competition in Washington, D.C. in May.

About the National Geographic Bee
Each year thousands of schools in the United States participate in the National Geographic Bee using materials prepared by the National Geographic Society. The contest is designed to encourage teachers to include geography in their classrooms, spark student interest in the subject, and increase public awareness about geography. Schools with students in grades four through eight are eligible for the National Geographic Bee.
