  • Jeffery Keys '21 Lily Sternlieb ’24 Earns Scholastic National Gold Medalist

    Newark Academy junior Jefferey Keys and eighth-grader Lily Sternlieb recently earned a Scholastic National Gold Medalist award for their pieces of writing. Jeffery wrote a Critical Essay, Caricatures, and CitizenshipIntertwined and wrote the Lily wrote a Dramatic Script, We Write the Words we Cannot Say. 

    The Civic Expression Award and Alliance/ACT-SO Journey Award are given to only a handful of Gold Medal winners and come with a scholarship/stipend, making Jeffrey's achievement especially notable

    An active member of Dr. LaPadula’s English class, Lily also works with Dr. LaPadula on the Middle School Lit Magazine.

  • Vihaan Jetley ’25 Qualifies, Will Compete in NJ State GeoBee

    After winning Newark Academy's School-wide GeoBee, seventh grader Vihaan Jetley qualified for the State GeoBee on March 27. Vihaan will compete against upwards of 100 peers from across the state in the National Geographic GeoBee New Jersey competition will be held at Rowan University.   • Three Newark Academy Eighth Graders Garner Scholastic Writing Awards

    Newark Academy eighth-graders Lily Sternlieb, Ambika Sharma and Kieri Keys received Scholastic Writing Awards for works they submitted. Gold Keys are awarded to the very best works submitted in the region and are automatically considered for national-level recognition, which Lilly received two of, one from Dramatic Script and another for Novel Writing. She also earned an Honorable Mention for Short Story and Poetry. Ambika received honorable mention for Science Fiction and Fantasy and Kieri was awarded a Silver Key in the short story category.

  • NA’s Sal Garcia ’26 Represents NJ With Chance at Little League World Series

    Sal Garcia ’26 slugged his team one game closer to the Little League World Series. Sal, who will join NA’s 6th grade in September, hit the go-ahead home run for his Elmora Youth Team (Elizabeth, NJ) to win the Little League Baseball 12-year-old State Championship.
    The win earns Sal and his team a trip to the Little League Regional in Bristol, CT where Elmora Youth will compete as the Team New Jersey for a chance to play in the Little League World Series. They will play the Pennsylvania State Champions on Sunday at 10 a.m., to start a tournament where the winner heads Williamsport, PA for the Little League World Series, from August 15 – August 25.
