Timely Exploration and Ongoing Learning

As generative AI tools began gaining widespread attention, Newark Academy responded with timely professional development designed to help faculty understand the evolving implications for teaching and learning. These early conversations laid the foundation for an ongoing, collaborative approach to AI — one that continues today through workshops, peer-led learning and regular policy updates. 

Faculty professional development around AI has focused on practical classroom application, thoughtful experimentation and shared reflection.

Exploring The Possibilities

As part of our practice, faculty actively experiment with emerging AI tools to better understand both their capabilities and limitations. Teachers explore how to thoughtfully design prompts for use in generating creative AI images to facilitate students' learning experience. 

 

 

Faculty AI Committee

 

NA’s Faculty AI Committee plays a key leadership role in guiding the school’s approach to artificial intelligence. Working collaboratively across divisions and departments, the committee helps ensure that innovation remains aligned with NA’s mission and values.

The committee’s work includes:

  • Researching emerging tools and trends in AI
  • Supporting colleagues as they integrate AI into instruction
  • Leading professional development and faculty dialogue
  • Refining guidelines and best practices as technologies evolve

Through this work, the committee helps foster a culture of curiosity, responsibility and ethical reflection, ensuring that NA’s approach to AI is both forward-thinking and firmly grounded.
