Our Approach to AI

All AI-generated content is reviewed by faculty for accuracy, tone and alignment with NA’s standards. Teachers may use AI to:

• Design or adapt instructional materials
   
• Differentiate learning supports for neurodivergent students
   
• Analyze anonymized student work to identify learning trends
   
• Develop rubrics and suggest feedback (teachers remain the final authors)
   
• Streamline administrative tasks

Student use of AI varies by assignment and is guided by clear expectations communicated by teachers. Students are asked to cite AI tools when they are used as part of an assignment. Examples of acceptable use include:

• Brainstorming ideas
   
• Editing for clarity
   
• Practicing language or vocabulary
   
• Running code checks
   
• Conducting structured analysis with teacher oversight

Newark Academy prohibits creating or sharing any AI-generated images, videos, or audio of students, employees or community members without explicit consent. This includes deepfakes used for:

• Harassment or bullying
   
• Impersonation
   
• Misinformation
   
• Nonconsensual imagery

Newark Academy uses only enterprise-protected AI tools that meet strict privacy requirements, including:

• Adobe Firefly
   
• Diffit
   
• Microsoft Copilot
   
• Google Workspace AI tools (Gemini, NotebookLM, Google Vids)
