Boys' and Girls' Golf Sweep Mountain Ridge Invitational

Newark Academy boys’ and girls’ golf swept the 3rd Annual Mountain Ridge Invitational on Monday, April 13. This was the first year that both the boys’ and girls’ teams took home first place together. The tournament was hosted by Caldwell High School as a benefit for the Caldwell Food Pantry with a generous donation from the Mountain Ridge Country Club members.  

On the boys’ side, there were 13 teams in attendance. Newark Academy finished with a score of 301, besting second-place Livingston by 12 shots. Junior Kieran O’Keefe led the pack with an even par 71. Senior Nathan Scheck and junior Jaiden Shah finished tied for fourth with 76. Junior Teo Levin rounded out Newark Academy's top ten finishers, finishing eighth with 78. 

On the girls’ side, the Minutemen dominated, shooting 363. Morristown Beard came in second with 380 and John P. Stevens finished third with 383. Sophomore Lexi Lee led Newark Academy, finishing third overall with 87. Junior Anya Balakumaran came in right behind her in fourth overall with 88. Freshman Ashlyn Wolfe placed seventh with 92 and Anya Karyekar rounded out Newark Academy’s top ten finishers, shooting a 96 and finishing ninth. 

Newark Academy is eager to return to regular-season action with the boys’ hosting Millburn on Tuesday, April 14, at 3:30 pm and the girls’ hosting Millburn on Thursday, April 16, at 3:30 pm.
