Football Season Preview
The Newark Academy football team enters the 2026 season with Billy Blomn at the helm after serving as the program's interim head coach last fall. Blomn returns to lead the Minutemen following a 1-3 campaign in 2025, when the team was captained by Andrew Mata ’26, Trevor Brown ’26 and Corey Hobbs ’26. Sebastian Eaton ’27 and Joseph Murphy ’27 serve as this season's captains.
The program also celebrated a major milestone off the field, as Trevor Brown ’26 committed to continue his football career at Macalester College.
Newark Academy will play an independent schedule this fall, giving the Minutemen the opportunity to face a variety of opponents throughout the season rather than competing in a conference.
The Minutemen open the 2026 season on Monday, September 14, hosting Horace Mann at 4:30 p.m.
