The NA Experience
The Newark Academy experience doesn’t end with the final class of the day. Our students and faculty are active and involved in learning within and beyond the classroom. NA students stay on campus to meet with friends, work with classmates, and explore new interests — from sports and the arts to clubs and special events.
An Engaged Community
In a typical week, an NA student might spend their afternoons involved in athletic practices and games, plays or musical performances, academic or special-interest club meetings, and tutoring and group studies.
Beloved Traditions
Back-to-School BBQ
Each school year kicks off with the annual Back-to-School BBQ, featuring the highly anticipated Senior Chocolate Slide, a pie-eating contest, yard games, athletics contests and delicious food.
Community Art Exhibit
At more than 20-year tradition, the Newark Academy community art exhibit features works from students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni and friends, all crafted with inspiration from a unifying theme.
International Dinner
NA families contribute their cultural dishes to a community-wide potluck. This event also features cultural shares and performances.
Spirt Week & Pep Rallies
Spirit Week at NA brings friendly competition between grade levels through themed dress up days, competitions, and themed video and mural painting contests, culminating in a school-wide Pep Rally and community-wide Homecoming festival.
Physics Boat Race
At the annual physics class boat race, students take an interdisciplinary approach — using math, physics, engineering and research skills — to develop a plan for a working boat, while being constrained by time and budget.
Stanley Cone
This annual floor hockey tournament began in the mid-80's as an Upper School tradition. It has since become a Middle School staple with the winners of the tournament earning bragging rights and adding their names to the Stanley Cone!

Arts
NA Arts is more than just a class or an activity, it’s a chance to tell your story. Students are encouraged to bring their own perspectives into the creative process. Students engage in introductory courses in the Middle School and hone their craft through advanced and IB arts courses in the Upper School. Newark Academy offers 6 main disciplines within the arts program.

A set of solar generators built by a team of Newark Academy Middle School students is bringing light to schools and community centers in northern Kenya, allowing hundreds of children to study at night for the first time.

The Newark Academy winter athletics teams made their mark in the school record books during the 2024-2025 winter season. The season included 15 broken records and six championship titles.

Newark Academy is proud to announce that eight current seniors were named 2025 National Merit Finalists, joining 15,000 students across the country.

Twenty-nine Newark Academy students earned a combined total of 72 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards in the East Region-At-Large 2025 competition.

The Newark Academy boys’ winter track team placed second overall at the Prep Championships held on Tuesday, February 11 and Wednesday, February 12.
