Newark Academy’s Gabby Neibart ’19 Looks Forward to Playing at University of Pittsburgh

Gabby Neibart ’19 has wanted to play college soccer since she started playing for her club team. Her childhood dream will become a reality this fall as the Minuteman's former keeper will play at Pitt, what the University of Pittsburgh is more commonly known as athletically, of the Athletic Coast Conference (ACC).
"When I play in the ACC next year at the University of Pittsburgh, it will be one of the most competitive environments that I have been a part of," Gabby said. "I can't wait to see how I develop and succeed as a student-athlete."

Which isn’t always easy when going to a D-I program in a Power 5 conference. Fortunately, her time at NA prepared her for the rigors that await her on and off the pitch.

“It hasn't always been easy balancing school, soccer, and extracurriculars, but I've got to say hard work really does pay off,” Gabby said. “Newark Academy has helped me become a more developed student and athlete because I had to work really hard to balance school work, soccer (and extra training), and volunteering at Saint Barnabas Medical Center. I learned to because of the support and generosity of my teachers and academic advisors.”

As a freshman at NA, Gabby was Honorable Mention Super Essex Conference (SEC) Liberty Division. The following year she was named 2nd Team Prep B and Honorable Mention SEC American Division. Her junior year she was named 2nd Team SEC American Division. She was named 1st Team SEC Liberty Division, helping the girls’ team reach the state sectional finals as a senior.
