Quinn Butler ’19 Receives Certificate of Recognition from Summit Mayor

Summit Mayor Nora Radest presented a Certificate of Recognition to Newark Academy senior Quinn Butler, a Summit resident who organized a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for 24-year-old Edward and Edwin Roman, Summit residents and twin brothers who have each undergone major heart surgery and will ultimately require heart transplants.

"When I spoke with Edward and Edwin at work and found out what they were facing and how much it was going to cost, I knew that a collection jar on the counter wasn't going to cut it, that someone needed to do something bigger," Quinn told TAPintoSummit. "So I decided to launch the GoFundMe site. I never imagined we would raise this much so fast. I am extremely thankful for the community's support."

To date, the campaign has raised more than $130,000 to defray medical costs since starting on February 18.
