Walk-off Seals Win For Columbia Against Newark Academy Lady Minutemen
- It came down to the last play, but Newark Academy Lady Minutemen was on the wrong end of a 12-11 defeat to Columbia on Monday. Columbia trailed 11-10 in the bottom of the seventh inning when #9 singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs. Despite the loss, Newark Academy Lady Minutemen did collect seven hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Columbia had 13 hits on the way to victory. Newark Academy Lady Minutemen got things started in the first inning when Olivia Mudrick singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Columbia scored five runs in the third inning. The offensive onslaught by Columbia was led by #33, #10, #9, and #16, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Lily Rosenberg was on the rubber for Newark Academy Lady Minutemen. She allowed five hits and five runs over three innings. Mudrick threw three and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen. Rosenberg started the game for Newark Academy Lady Minutemen. She surrendered five runs on five hits over three innings Newark Academy Lady Minutemen tallied one home run on the day. Sam Burggraf had a homer in the first inning. Sam Keller went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Newark Academy Lady Minutemen in hits.
