NA’s Lizzie Schwartz ’21 Wins Gilder Leherman Civil War Essay Contest Award

In January, a few sophomores in Mr. Coe’s American Experience class entered the Gilder Lehrman Civil War Essay Contest. Lizzie Schwartz ’21, who wrote about the international impact of the Civil War, received a commendation for her outstanding essay and received a copy of the Frederick Douglass Book Prize Co-Winner, “The Dawn of Detroit: A Chronicle of Slavery and Freedom in the City of the Straits.”
