NA Middle School Students Create App to Help Memory-Loss Patients

A Newark Academy team of middle school students have created the blueprint for an innovative app designed to help memory-loss patients and their caregivers with ongoing care and wellness management.
The app, VibraLife, was inspired by the Verizon Innovative App Challenge, which challenges students to create problem-solving app ideas that can have real-world impact.

Whether the end-user is a doctor, family member or the patient, VibraLife will help everyone stay in contact and monitor the patient’s progress.  There is even a function for the patient to use the app to play cognitive games, which may slow the progression of the disease.

The Verizon Innovative App Challenge was created by the Verizon Foundation to build greater awareness and interest in STEM.  Verizon will announce the Best in State Winners on January 6, 2016 and Best in Nation on February 2, 2016.  The winning teams will work with coding experts from MIT to bring their app ideas to life.
