  • Newark Academy was the first school in NJ to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma. There are 70 members of the Classes of 2018 and 2019 pursuing the full diploma. Approximately 90% of the Class of 2018 is enrolled in at least one IB course.
  • NA offers preparation for 10 AP courses.
  • The Immersion Requirement is the first of its kind. Upper School students are required to engage in deep cultural or environmental exploration, typically for two to three weeks. In 2016-17, 98 students participated in the Immersion Experience Program.
  • NA offers nine opportunities for off-campus study, across the country and around the world. 
  • The final two weeks of the school year are designated for intensive learning. Students in grades 6-8 engage in Capstone Experiences, students in grades 9-11 take one intensive June Term course that combines intellectual rigor with the ingenuity of focused, experiential learning, allowing the student to pursue a passion or discover a new interest.
