Senior Day!
Senior day and milestones at Newark Academy today. Sam Keller scored her 1000th point in the first quarter on a layup. Tied at 6 apiece going into the second, Ivy Bethea hits a three to get her 1000th point. Congratulations to both ladies on this great achievement!
They are the third and fourth girls, respectively, in Newark Academy history to reach 1000 points.
Caldwell led 15-13 at the half.
The seniors and their families were then recognized for all their contributions in a short ceremony, then the #LadyMinutemen got down to business. NA outscored the Chiefs 13-9, including a Kyra Cooperman buzzer beater to go up one to start the fourth.
Down to the wire in the final minutes, with a couple lead changes back and forth. With 24 seconds to play, Kyra Cooperman gets fouled and goes to the line for a 1-1 and makes them both to put NA up 38-35! #Solid After a flurry of activity, Sam Keller makes the second of a two shot foul to give NA the four point lead and hold on for the win.
Both Sam Keller and Ivy Bethea had 9 points, along with 6 and 10 rebounds, respectively.
Kyra Cooperman finished with 8 points, along with taking two charges and grabbing 5 rebounds.
Molly Feldman finished with 7 points, 4 steals, and 4 rebounds.
