Newark Academy CIA Program Continues to Go Strong

Six Newark Academy seniors continued a new NA tradition recently as they immersed themselves in Middle School classes through the Classroom Internship Association (CIA). The brainchild of Dan Eatroff's '12 2012 June Term project to strengthen ties between Middle School and Upper School students for the Leadership in the 21st Century course, CIA has had a positive impact on the NA community for nearly a decade.

CIA agents, as the interns are called, have ample opportunities to hone their leadership, communication and problem-solving skills, while directly giving back to the NA community and dedicating their time to connect with Middle School students.
“My CIA Giulia [Socolof ’19] was a pleasure to have in class,” said Kat Dakos ’24, who is in Ms. Palmer’s Interactive Discovery Class. “Even though keeping us middle schoolers under control is difficult Giulia kept us calm while still having fun. Giulia taught the lessons in a way or language my classmates and I could understand as well as throwing a few fun activities and jokes to make the class more entertaining. I looked forward to going to class not knowing what would happen, but knowing that I would have a good time.”
