Sam Keller ’19 Honored with Scholar Athlete Award

Every year the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSAA) asks all of its member schools to select a single student to receive a scholar athlete award. This year, Newark Academy selected three-sport athlete Sam Keller ’19. The senior was on the Newark Academy varsity soccer, basketball and softball teams, as well as was a 1,000 point scorer in basketball and recorded 100 hits in softball.
“The athletic department considers the NJSIAA Scholar Athlete to be the highest honor we can bestow upon a Newark Academy athlete,” NA Athletics Director Ted Gilbreath said. “We liked Sam to be our recipient based on her dedication and competitive excellence in soccer, basketball and softball over the last four years. I think it is important to know that Sam was an easy and unanimous choice for this award.”

Recipients attended a luncheon on May 19th at the Pines Manor in Edison.
