John Bul Dau to Present at Global Speaker Series January 16, 2020

The Newark Academy community is looking forward to welcoming John Bul Dau on Jan. 16 as part of the Global Speaker Series. John Bul Dau (also known as Dhieu-Deng Leek) is one of the Lost Boys of Sudan who was featured in the 2006 award-winning documentary God Grew Tired of Us. He is a father and a human rights activist for the people of South Sudan.
 
As part of Newark Academy’s Global Speaker Series, John will address the Middle School from 9:20-10:20 a.m. in the Middle School Commons before in breakout sessions with students. Upper School students can attend the breakout sessions. John’s complete bio can be found here.
Newark Academy strives to expose students to global issues that shape the world in the classroom and beyond. Since 2008, NA’s Global Speaker Series has brought distinguished individuals from around the world to address the NA community, enrich students’ understanding and broaden their intellectual horizons. 

The Global Speaker Series committee, which includes student, faculty, administration and parent representatives, brings thought-provoking speakers to campus four times each year. Speakers address current global issues, including gender and racial equality, freedom of speech, environmental sustainability, foreign affairs, philanthropy and more.
