Newark Academy Arts Department to Perform Godspell

Newark Academy students will perform Godspell on February 27, 28 and 29 at 7:30 p.m. at the Morris Museum Bickford Theatre. Godspell was the first major musical theatre offering from three-time Grammy and Academy Award winner, Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Children of Eden) and it took the world by storm.

Godspell is a magical retelling of the Gospel according to Matthew, through the interpretation of the story of Jesus Christ and his disciples. NA’s ensemble retells parables by using a wide variety of storytelling techniques and a hefty dose of comic timing. The score boasts an eclectic blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville. Led by the international hit, "Day by Day," Godspell features a parade of beloved songs, including "Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord," "Learn Your Lessons Well," "All for the Best," "All Good Gifts," "Turn Back, O Man" and "By My Side.” The musical’s message of kindness, tolerance, and love comes vibrantly to life. Godspell is a sensation that continues to touch audiences and leave us with the message of self-love, authenticity and celebrating difference.

Tickets will be available for $12 in the NA Bookstore and at the door on the evening of the performances.
