Five Newark Academy Seniors Named National Merit Scholar Finalists

In September, five Newark Academy Seniors were selected as National Merit Scholars Semifinalists were among 1.5 million juniors across the United States that entered the 2020 Merit Scholarship Program.

The five, Grace Bu ’20, Eric D. Lieberman ’20, Kira Lu ’20, Lori Sun ’20 and Warren R. Sunada-Wong ’20,  made the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program final round, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced. One of 7,500 National Merit $2,500 Scholarships and represent less than 1 percent of U.S. high school seniors as Finalists.

National Merit Finalists must have an outstanding academic record throughout high school, are endorsed and recommended by a high school official, write an essay, and earn SAT or ACT scores that confirm their student's earlier performance on the qualifying test.
