Newark Academy to Host Second Annual Northern NJ High School Eco-Summit

 
Newark Academy’s Green and Blue Committee invites students in grades 8-12, from local independent and public schools, to the Second Annual Northern NJ High School Eco-Summit on May 2, 2020 from 11 a.m - 12:30 p.m. 
 
This year the summit will be held virtually, featuring Keynote Speaker Melissa Miles, eco-Justice manager from Ironbound Community Corporation (ICC). Melissa represents ICC and Newark on the Environmental Justice Advisory Council to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Projection, and is also an advisory board member of the Moving Forward Network and on the Steering Committee for the Coalition for Healthy Ports. In her role, she works closely with the Climate Justice Alliance, the Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives and the Post Landfill Action Network.
 
Following Melissa’s presentation, there will be breakout discussions and student networking sessions. 

The mission of the Northern NJ High School Eco-Summit is to foster dialogue and collaboration between local high schools and environmental organizations, inspiring a network of individuals committed to sustainable action and education.
