NA Students Earn Scholastic Art & Writing National Medals

Four Newark Academy students — three writers and one artist — earned five 2017 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards National Medals.
Annika Inampudi ’21 earned a Gold Medal in Flash Fiction for her story, “Stolen Hearts.” Ava Sharahy ’20 earned a Silver Medal in Flash Fiction for her story, “Hero to Three.” Ashley Sun ’18 won Gold Medal in Drawing/Illustration for her self-portrait, “Reserve,” and a Silver Medal in Painting for her painting, “Bus Boochie.” Kiran Damodaran ’17 won his second Silver Medal in two years for his short story, “Carnival Games.”

Winning pieces are forthcoming on the WAM blog and will be displayed on the bulletin board outside Mr. Austin’s office.

Of over 400,000 Scholastic entries this year, less than one percent earned National Medals. Gold Medalists Annika and Ashley will be honored at an awards ceremony at Carnegie Hall in June. Congratulations, Annika, Ashley, Ava and Kiran!
