June Term and Capstone Begins

In a continued effort to provide Newark Academy students with as many interactive learning opportunities as possible, all Upper School students in grades 9-11 enroll in an intensive learning course, which has become known as June Term. Similarly, Middle School students take part in Capstone experiences, developed and implemented by our faculty as a way for students to finish the school year in an enriching way.
Through hands-on experiences, Upper School students enrolled in June Term courses grapple with challenging ideas, make connections between concepts and reality, make mistakes, and learn from them. Many courses involve field trips and guest speakers. All June Term courses result in a unique final product or project. Starting in early May and running through June Term, each senior engages in a Senior Project - an internship or experience in the real world.

During the last 10 days of school, Middle School students go on field trips and complete team-building activities that promote teamwork, independence, risk-taking and leadership skills.
