Cultural Explorations Through the Immersion Program

Watching our students open their hearts and homes to a group of Spanish exchange students as part of the Newark Academy Spain Immersion Experience was inspiring. In a short amount of time, students from different parts of the world connected with one another, sharing their rich cultural traditions, immersing themselves in new experiences, improving their study of foreign languages, and more. Tearful goodbyes were coupled with long hugs and promises to stay in touch. It's safe to say that this group of Newark Academy students and Spanish exchange students won't let the distance stop their friendships from blooming!
All Newark Academy students are required to complete at least one immersion experience prior to graduation. They must fulfill the requirement in a single trip, which may take place at any time after the completion of 8th-grade.

NA Faculty-led French Immersion Program in Lille - Seeking Host Families
This program is one way to fulfill the immersion requirement and is scheduled for spring break. In order for NA students to participate, they must first host a French student. We are seeking host families for 15 French students from The Thérèse D’Avila School in Lille, France from October 19 - November 2, 2018 (dates tentative).

Join us on Upper School Parents Day, September 23 from 12:15-1:15 pm in the Immersion Office (Room 5) to learn more about applying for the program and hosting a French exchange student.
