More than $2,000 raised by Middle School Swim Team

The 4th annual Middle School swim team Swim-A-Thon and Relay Carnival was a huge success! Swimmers asked their classmates, family and friends to pledge them for a 10-minute swim and, in total, the team swam more than 700 laps and raised $1,200 to provide swim lessons for children in Newark and increase awareness of water safety. And, since the Swim-A-Thon and Relay Carnival inception three years ago, the Middle School swim team has raised more than $7,500. Director of Aquatics at the West Essex YMCA Scott Weber also spoke with the swimmers about how the money raised made an impact by making the YMCA’s free five-day water safety classes possible.
