A and B VB Victorious Over Golda Och

The A team started slowly in the first set, as defensively we could not find our passing rhythm. At 5-14, Jessie breathed life into the set with three aces to make it 8-14. We then began to chip away at the gap with an ace from Ava and some well-placed returns. at 12-17, Meredith served 6 in row and Ava added a kill to tie the match to go ahead by one. The match then see-sawed back and forth with NA as always a one or two point underdog.  Finally with the set on the line at 22-22, Marley served two aces to give us a slight cushion. Golda Och had one last chance but had an error which landed the set in our court!!!. With our energy now running the second set was not as close, as Ava led off with three aces soon to be followed by one apiece by Anika and Meredith. Zoe kept it going with two aces and Alyssa had two strong returns. Toward the end of the set Ava once again had two aces as did Serin and Larisa finished the set with an ace and a well-placed serve that Golda Och mishandled. NA A VB was victorious!
The B team worked hard to stay in the first set as the offensive serve swung back and forth between the teams. Izzy, Nia, Sophia and Rebecca each had an ace early on in the set to keep us on the high side of the score. At the end of the set, Sophia took charge, served 3 aces to mae the score 23-19. Golda Och counted post a string of points and we held on to win 25-21. In the second set, the first three points were strong passing which Claire followed with an ace. But it was Gabby who broke open the set with steady serving with 10 aces to really create the opportunity for a victory. We continued to play as a team, Nitya added an ace and Claire finished the set wtih an ace and a serve that created a passing error by Golda Och.
Both teams play Heritage on Monday at 3:45 away at Heritage MS in Livingston.
