Equity and Inclusion Team

The mission of Newark Academy’s Equity and Inclusion Team (EIT) is to promote diversity, equity and justice throughout the school community. The team is comprised of student and faculty representatives in both Middle and Upper Schools who work to create new programs and expand existing ones in conjunction with the Academy’s strategic diversity initiatives.

EIT is comprised of students who have successfully applied to join the team, faculty from the Middle and Upper school, and administrators. Members of the EIT serve as ambassadors for –and group leaders in– the work of the Office of Equity and Inclusion.

Student Clubs

The NA faculty and student body engage in initiatives that invite action and dialogue to promote diversity, inclusion and deeper understanding of race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion and socioeconomic status. NA empowers students to take an active role in this work.

Thirteen of the more than 60 student clubs on campus are affiliated with the Office of Equity and Inclusion. These clubs have articulated missions that are closely tied to the vision for creating a diverse, inclusive and equitable community at NA. These clubs are encouraged and supported to collaborate with one another on developing events and presentations in the spirit of intersectionality.
