NA-X Ethics Seminar Grades 9-12

NA-X Ethics Seminar Grades 9-12

Dates: July 13th - July 17th (1 week course)
Times: 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Tuition: $325

Is a high school obliged to issue a revised diploma and transcript to an alum who graduated fifteen years earlier, but who recently changed their gender identity? Is it moral to allow the elementary school students of one town to have greater educational opportunities than the children in the neighboring town? Should a middle school stop offering chocolate milk at lunch for nutritional reasons or let its students decide what to drink?

Ethical case studies like these animate this one-week seminar. However, in order for us to thoughtfully consider and debate issues like these, we need to become versed in some major ethical theories and problem-solving strategies. Whether or not we are able to reach consensus on any of our case study issues, students should leave the seminar armed with better listening, critical thinking and arguing skills (sorry, parents).
