Dance

There is both depth and breadth in Newark Academy's vibrant Dance Program. Students are exposed to a wide variety of dance styles, including contemporary, jazz, modern, ballet, tap and improvisation. In each course, students learn proper body alignment, work on flexibility, practice moving to a beat, and learn about dance history.

Analyzing, writing, and speaking about dance provides the groundwork for the advanced level in which students are tasked with designing and teaching their own choreography. Students’ original pieces are featured in NA’s fall and spring dance concerts that take place in the school's state-of-the art Coraci Performance Hall.

For the serious dancer, NA also offers IB Dance that focuses on deepening their performance and choreography skills. NA also offers World Dance Master Classes that widen students' understanding of the importance of dance in different cultures.

Extracurricular opportunities include Dance and Step Teams.
