NA Welcomes New Head Coach of the Boys’ Tennis Team

The Athletics Department is excited to welcome back Lou Scerra as the next head coach of the Boys’ Tennis Team. Coach Scerra spent the better part of a decade at Newark Academy as the assistant coach for the Boys' and Girls' Tennis Teams and as a faculty member in the English department. During his tenure at Newark Academy, the tennis program was arguably the best in the state. In the final season of his first term, he functioned as the interim head coach for most of the season and led the team to an undefeated record, a state number one ranking and an elusive Tournament of Champions crown.
“There is no one better qualified to be the next head coach of Newark Academy's tennis team. Coach Scerra understands both the program, with its rich history and lofty expectations, and the school intimately. He will ensure that the team functions smoothly and that the players are able to attain their athletic and academic goals,” says Director of Athletics Ted Gilbreath.
