NA Picks Up Two Mock Trial Wins
Newark Academy picked up two wins on Jan. 14, defeating Montclair High School and Belleville. The nine students that represent the school on the Mock Trial team for 2018-19 are Ethan Magistro ’19, Grace Bu ’20 (student attorney), Aashna Parameshwar ’20 (student attorney), Jessica Zheng ’20 (student attorney), Henry Chandonnet ’21, Alexandra Speck ’21, Drew France ’22, Stella Gilbert ’22, Charles Hynes ’22 and Avi Parameshwar ’22. Mock Trial empowers students to learn the art of performing a persuasive and cohesive argument while honing their critical thinking, teamwork, trial and public speaking skills. NA Mock Trial coaches are Leo Gordon ’69, who serves as a federal judge on the United States Court of International Trade, NA Humanities teacher Benson Hawk, NA parent Michael Hynes and NA parent Henry Powell.
