Cat Delett Exhibit at David Teiger ’47 Gallery for Studio Arts, September 3 – October 7

Cat Delett, a resident of Maplewood, New Jersey, is showing a body of work at David Teiger ’47 Gallery for Studio Arts at Newark Academy from September 3 – October 7, 2019. The exhibit entitled Two-Way Looking Glass, is a collection of paintings and illustrations that pull the viewer in, using humor, melancholy and wit, as well as personal symbolism.
A narrative artist, every piece Delett creates tells a story. Some pieces entice the observer to decipher the tale being shared, while others may be colored by the observer’s own imagining or experiences. “My goal is that you walk away feeling as if you have, for a moment, been pulled into a story that is either familiar, unexpected or both,” says Delett.

Ms. Delett has been painting for most of her life and creating with paper and words for the past six years. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and juried shows throughout New Jersey, both in group and solo shows and is displayed in private residences across the country. Delett has taught collage workshops for South Orange-Maplewood and Montclair adult schools, curated local galleries and created the arts events newsletter Arts in SOMa and the Valley, to promote local artists and musicians. In addition to sharing her work with the Newark Academy community, she will also offer her expertise and process with the visual art students through gallery talks. The exhibit will open with a reception on September 6, at 3:00 p.m.
