Community Service November Events

In November, the Community Service Council is highlighting the issue of Food Insecurity and how service can address the need both in New Jersey and nationally.
There will be a Canned Food Sculpture Contest to raise awareness about food insecurity in New Jersey. Team sign-ups will be posted outside the Middle School office beginning the week of November 1 and teams of 6th, 7th and 8th grade students can sign up. The team that wins, as judged by Ms. Palmer and Ms. Fischer, will be rewarded with a pizza party. Cans can be dropped off to Ms. Palmer in the Middle School office from now until November 4. The Interfaith Food Pantry of the Oranges has requested the following: cans of peas, sweet potatoes, hearty soups, tuna, oatmeal, peanut butter.

On Tuesday, November 1, from 12:00-12:25pm in Room 24, there will be a Color A Smile Party. Color A Smile is a nonprofit organization that distributes cheerful crayon drawings to senior citizens, troops overseas and many others. Students will help sort and finish drawings that will be donated to the organization. Snacks will be served.

There will be a trip to St. Ann's Soup Kitchen trip on Saturday, November 12. The permission slips are due to Ms. Fischer in the Humanities office by November 10. There are only a few spots left and they will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
