Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS)

As one of the three essential elements of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma experience, CAS represents the program's ongoing commitment to the IB learner profile and enables students to enhance their personal and interpersonal development by learning through experience. This form of experiential learning and focus on intellectual and academic self-determination is at the heart of a Newark Academy education. IB Diploma candidates who chose to engage in a service-based CAS project can fulfill their service requirement for their junior and senior year. All IB Diploma candidates are required to complete the CAS program, but are not required to do a service-based project.

Students should address concerns and questions to CAS Director Sarah Fischer at sfischer@newarka.edu or Interim IB Coordinator and CAS Coordinator Richard Stilliard at rstilliard@newarka.edu.
