Intellectual Stamina, Personal Fulfillment

Faculty and students in Newark Academy’s Upper School are re-imagining rigor by building intellectual stamina while engendering deep personal fulfillment. In our seminar-style classes, teachers encourage inquiry, debate and discussion. We focus on helping our students develop the essential skills, the 6 Cs necessary for life and work in the 21st century  rather than simple content mastery—training our students to be insightful writers, researchers, speakers, problem-solvers, collaborators, and critical thinkers. In this section, you can learn more about the core elements of Upper School (grades 9 -12) at Newark Academy including:

Advanced Learning at NA

Newark Academy’s primary program for advanced learning is the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. In addition to a full array of IB courses and the IB Diploma Program, NA also offers students a number of Advanced Placement (AP) courses, leading to AP exams. Nearly 700 IB and AP exams were taken by NA students last year.
